Based in Brighton, the Studio 9 Orchestra is a 19-piece ensemble, specialising in contemporary Jazz, Funk and Latin compositions. Although performing a diverse array of charts from across the jazz repertoire, S9O pride themselves on performing technical and interesting pieces from some of the world's greatest contemporary composers. We aim for emotion, scope and communicating with our audience, to bring a fresh approach to big band playing.
The ensemble was formed in 2011 by Scott Sheridan (now with the London Philharmonia), and saxophonist Philippe Guyard, and from its infancy the band has attracted some of the best Jazz musicians from the South of England. The band has grown from strength to strength.
The Studio 9 Orchestra has a calendar of concerts throughout the UK in 2016-17, playing at venues in and around East Sussex and at arts festivals.
